Terms and Conditions
Last updated: July 30, 2026
By using searchpetvets.com you agree to these terms. SearchPetVets is a free directory connecting pet owners with local veterinary clinics and pet-service providers.
Three things to know before you read on. (1) We are a directory — we are not a veterinarian and do not provide veterinary care. (2) Everything that happens between you and a practice is between you and that practice. (3) The dispute-resolution section requires most disputes with us to go to individual arbitration and waives class actions — you may opt out within 30 days, and it never limits your rights against a veterinary practice.
Emergencies
If your animal is having an emergency, stop and contact an emergency veterinary hospital immediately. For a suspected poisoning, call ASPCA Animal Poison Control at (888) 426-4435 (a consultation fee may apply). Do not wait on our symptom-checker, a form, or a reply from us.
Using the directory
Pet owners may search listings, submit appointment requests, claim promotional offers, and leave reviews, free of charge. Businesses may claim and manage their own listing at no cost for the basic listing. You must be at least 18 to submit an appointment request, review, or assistance application.
The symptom-checker
- Our symptom-checker uses automated software (AI) to suggest how urgently an animal may need to be seen and what kind of provider might be appropriate. It is a routing aid, nothing more.
- It does not diagnose, does not prescribe, and can be wrong. It has not examined your animal and works only from the few words you type. Never delay care because it suggested a lower urgency, and never treat its output as a substitute for a veterinarian's judgment.
- It is provided as a convenience and at your own risk. If you are unsure, contact a veterinarian.
Listings, verification, and search ordering
- Listing information comes from businesses themselves and from public sources. A listing is not an endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee of any practice's qualifications, quality, or results.
- What a verified badge means, precisely. It means only that, at the time we reviewed the listing, the practice's basic details appeared consistent with public records. It is not a clinical assessment — we do not evaluate a veterinarian's skill, judgment, training, complication history, malpractice history, disciplinary record, or outcomes, and we do not re-check continuously.
- Premium and featured placement is paid advertising. It reflects what a business purchased — it is not a quality rating and does not mean we consider them better than any other practice.
- Confirm a veterinarian's license with your state veterinary medical board.
Reviews
- Reviews must describe your own genuine, first-hand experience with that business. No fake, paid, incentivized, or second-hand reviews.
- Reviews are moderated before publication. We may decline or remove reviews that violate these terms, contain personal attacks, or that we reasonably believe are not genuine.
- Businesses cannot pay us to add, remove, or alter reviews or ratings. Paid placement never changes review content.
SMS Terms — "SearchPetVets Notifications" program
By submitting an appointment request, or by claiming/logging into a business listing, you consent to receive text messages related to that action:
- A one-time notification to a business when a pet owner submits an appointment request, so the business can reply.
- A one-time verification code when a business claims or logs into its listing.
Message frequency: one message per appointment request or per login/claim attempt — not a recurring or marketing program. Message and data rates may apply. For help, reply HELP or email support@searchpetvets.com. To stop receiving messages, reply STOP at any time — this will not affect your ability to use the website itself.
Business listings
Businesses are responsible for the accuracy of information they provide when claiming or editing their listing (hours, services, insurance accepted, and similar details). We may remove or suspend a listing for inaccurate, fraudulent, or abusive content.
No medical advice
SearchPetVets is a directory only — we do not provide veterinary or medical advice, we do not practice veterinary medicine, and we do not employ or supervise the veterinarians listed. Using the site does not create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship with us.
We are not a party to your relationship with a practice
SearchPetVets is an introduction and connection service. Our role ends when you and a practice are connected. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for:
- Any communication, conversation, call, text, message, or visit between you and a practice, its staff, its contractors, or anyone else associated with it — whether it began through the site or anywhere else.
- Anything said, promised, quoted, recommended, or represented to you by any of them, including statements about pricing, availability, credentials, treatments, risks, or expected outcomes.
- Any examination, procedure, treatment, medication, aftercare, or outcome — including complications, injury to an animal, or death of an animal.
- The conduct of any person you encounter through the site, whether or not they are licensed.
- Any agreement, payment, deposit, refund, or dispute between you and a business.
- Scheduling, cancellations, no-shows, wait times, or a business's failure to respond at all.
Businesses listed are independent. They are not our employees, agents, or partners, and we do not direct or control how they operate, whom they accept, or what they charge. You select your veterinarian using your own judgment and assume the risks of that selection. If something goes wrong with a practice, your recourse is against that practice.
Third-party telehealth and other partners
- Where we link to a third-party telehealth service or other partner, that service is operated entirely by them, on their platform, with their licensed veterinarians, under their terms and privacy policy. We do not operate or supervise it.
- Telehealth rules vary by state — including whether a veterinarian may diagnose or prescribe remotely without first examining your animal in person. That is between you and the partner, and subject to the law where you are located.
- We may be compensated when you click through to, sign up with, or book through a partner. Compensation can affect which partners we show and in what order. We disclose this next to the links themselves, not only here.
- Where we link to a partner's public reviews, we link to their page as published by a third party. We do not write, host, verify, or endorse those reviews.
Limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SearchPetVets is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the site or from interactions with businesses listed on it. This includes any claim arising from or relating to any communication or interaction with a practice or its staff; any treatment, outcome, injury, or death of an animal; any payment or dispute with a business; your reliance on the symptom-checker; and your selection of any business or listing.
Our total liability for any claim related to the service will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Dispute resolution — arbitration and class-action waiver
Please read this carefully — it affects your legal rights. It requires most disputes with us to be resolved by individual arbitration rather than in court, and waives your right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action. It does not apply to any claim you have against a veterinary practice or a telehealth partner — your rights against them are unaffected.
- Informal resolution first. Before starting arbitration, email support@searchpetvets.com describing the dispute and the relief you want. We will try in good faith to resolve it within 60 days.
- Arbitration. Any dispute not resolved informally will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, before a single arbitrator, seated in Maricopa County, Arizona, or by remote hearing at your election. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section.
- Class-action waiver. Disputes will be brought only in your individual capacity, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative proceeding. If this waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim — and only that claim — is severed and proceeds in court; the rest remains in arbitration.
- Exceptions. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either of us may seek injunctive relief in court to protect intellectual property or stop unauthorized access to the site.
- Your right to opt out. You may reject this section by emailing support@searchpetvets.com with the subject "Arbitration Opt-Out," including your name and the email you use with the site, within 30 days of first accepting these terms. Opting out affects nothing else in these terms.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the "Last updated" date will change and continued use means acceptance. These terms are governed by Arizona law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to the section above, any dispute not required to be arbitrated will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Arizona. If any provision is held unenforceable, it is severed and the rest stays in force.
